What the Bible Says About Medicine and Physicians

I’ve met well-meaning Christians who believe that if they have enough faith, they should never need a doctor. They see a prescription bottle as a sign of spiritual defeat. But when I look at the Word, I see a very different story. God is our Healer, absolutely—but He often uses human hands and earthly elements to bring that healing to pass.

If you’ve been feeling guilty about "relying" on medicine, let’s look at what the scriptures actually say.

Honor the Physician

In the Book of Colossians, the Apostle Paul refers to Luke as "the beloved physician" (Colossians 4:14). Paul didn't tell Luke to quit his "secular" job and just pray for people. He valued Luke’s skill.

God gave us the wisdom to understand the human body. Using a medication to stabilize your heart or clear your lungs is a way of honoring the wisdom He planted in humanity.

Biblical Examples of Medical Help

From the "balm in Gilead" to Isaiah telling King Hezekiah to apply a poultice of figs to his boil (2 Kings 20:7), the Bible is full of instances where physical means were used alongside prayer. Even Jesus noted that "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick" (Matthew 9:12). He acknowledged the necessity of medical care.

stewardship of the Body

Seeking medical help isn't a lack of faith; it is an act of stewardship. You are the manager of the temple God gave you. If that temple has a chemical imbalance or a failing system, the responsible, faithful thing to do is fix it using the best tools available.

The only "sin" I see is a system that makes these tools unaffordable for the average family. We believe healthcare should be accessible to all of God's children. That’s why we help people get their life-saving meds for $40 a month. It’s practical ministry for a physical need.

Get the medical tools you need for $40/mo. Check your eligibility.
